Supply list—Introduction to Oil Painting
Instructor: David Lee Jones
The first class you will need the following:
- Vine Charcoal – soft, both thick and thin
- Medium Weight Charcoal Paper 11 by 17 inch (large is fine)
- Kneaded Erasers (2 or 3 larger the better)
- Palette – wood or glass
- Palette cups
- Odorless Turpentine (Gamsol, Turpinoid; Odorless pure gum spirits, etc.)
- Cotton Rags (for cleaning brushes)
- Paper Towels – (medium size with curved tip)
- Bristle Brushes (#4 flat, #8 flat, and #10 flat)
- Tube Flake White Oil Paint (Burnt Sienna or Raw Umber)
Supports; there is a wide variety of materials available for the painters today. The first class just bring a small canvas or panel (8 by 10 or 11 by 14). We will explore alternative supports as the class progresses.
This is all you will need for the first class. Additional information about materials will be provided at the end of the first class.
