Supply list—Mixed Media

  • Paper
    • Heavy weight - sketchbook/drawing paper, and/or Arches watercolor paper
  • Paints
    • Watercolors or Gouache
    • Recommended: Set of tube paints (8-12 tubes. Windsor Newton) Cadmium Yellow Light, Cadmium Yellow Medium, Cadmium Red, Rose Madder Genuine, Permanent Alizarin Crimson, Cerulean, Cobalt Blue, Viridian, Sap Green, Ultramarine, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber
  • Brushes: 
    • Set of 3-6 synthetic brushes. Look for a mix of points and flats. Don’t buy the cheap ones.
  • Palette
    • Use a large, white plastic palette that has a lid and a large enough area for mixing colors. Or white ceramic palette/plate.
  • Colored pencils
    • I suggest choosing individual colors of different brands
  • Ink
    • India ink, nibs and nib holder, Micron drawing pen, or fine line black ink pen
  • Pencil & white eraser
    • Water containers (plastic yogurt cups)
    • Charcoal, conté, pastels (optional)
