Supply list—Precious Metal Clay
Instructor: Nancy Wambach
I purchase the silver clay at my best price and then sell it in class at cost. Packages run about $25-$30, depending on type of clay and market price of silver. This is usually enough to make a couple of pieces of jewelry. We will try the new Bronze clay this semester…it is much less expensive and we can make some large pieces.
Please be ready to pay for one package of clay the first day, check or cash.
During the first class, I will discuss some of the tools and supplies you may want. I’ll take orders for tools and more clay at the first class. Some supplies and findings will also be for sale.
You do not have to have any tools or supplies for the first class. The following are some items you may want for the class. Please mark tools to identify them: Nail polish, Sharpie…
Salon Boards: all grits
Small plastic containers that seal tightly: old film canisters
Playing cards: ~10, preferably plastic coated
Sturdy Plastic cards…..like credit cards but without raised letters
Small paint brush..good enough not shed bristles
Small cutting tool…exacto, etc.
If you have done polymer or clay work, most of the tools are useful:
Clay working tools..shapers,etc.
Wax working tools
Rubber stamps, Texture sheets.
Small roller
If you have some open clay from another class, get it out to see if it has dried out. If so, cut it in small pieces and add a bit of distilled water, Seal up. Check every day and work out the lumps, adding more water as needed. If it has mold, cut out the mold before adding water.
