Behind the Scenes

As the Delaware Art Museum begins installing the exhibition Paintings from the Reign of Victoria: The Royal Holloway Collection, London, which includes some ENORMOUS works of art, we just can’t keep the excitement to ourselves. Enjoy some behind-the-scenes photographs of the heavy lifting this project requires.

Here in Fusco Hall, paintings are being hung “salon style,” meaning they are closely packed side by side and above one another.

Thomas Faed’s Taking Rest goes up.

A moment of reflection…

…and then The Battle of Roveredo rises!

Edwin Longsden Long’s mammoth masterpiece, The Babylonian Marriage Market, is readied for ascent.

LIFTOFF! If you’d like to see the entire exhibition before the public, be sure to RSVP for the Victorian Preview Jubilee, which is Saturday, January 31, at 6:00 p.m. Click here to learn more.
