Introduction to Enameling

This class will demonstrate the basics of enamel fusing with both torches and kilns before diving deeper into techniques such as Basse-taille, Champlevé, and other surface decoration processes. Students are encouraged to try a range of these processes to get a feel for materials and technique. No prior Metalsmithing is required in this introductory course, and those with experience in other fields and mediums are encouraged and welcomed.
Techniques/processes demonstrated: Basse-taille, Champlevé, Sgraffito, layering, stenciling, graphite, overglazes/underglazes, decals.
Supply List
Most supplies provided; students will need to bring an N95 dust Mask and might choose to purchase more enamel colors and copper as the class progresses.
