Landscapes in Collage and Mixed Media
There’s a whole world out there! Make a little bit of it your own in mixed media. Using a photo as a reference, start with found papers, glue, and scissors. Add paint, pen, crayons, stamps, or markers and create a landscape (seascape, urban scene, moonscape…) that you can visit anytime you like. At the end of class you’ll have a small scene finished or well on its way, and knowledge of how to create more collage landscapes on your own.
Supply List
- Scissors (that you don’t mind possibly getting glue on)
- Two copies of a photo, sized about 8” x 10”. It can be your own photo or from a magazine, etc. Print quality doesn’t matter as long as you can work with it, since it’s just for reference.
- Found papers – there will be a selection available but you’re encouraged to bring some of your own. Think magazines, junk mail, failed artworks cut up, pages from old books, photos, receipts, labels…
- Paints, markers, pens, pencils, stamps – there will be a selection available but if you’ve got mark-making materials on hand that you like, bring them.
