Museum Associate

 The Delaware Art Museum is searching for a part-time Museum Associate with outstanding customer service skills to help the Museum provide engaging and friendly visitor experiences at the Museum’s front desk and inside the Museum Store.  The hours , while generally up to 20 per week, will vary during the Museum’s public open hours (Wed-Sun 10am – 4pm, Thurs eve 4-8pm) and will include some events outside normal business hours and Thursday evenings. Weekend hours will be required. The Museum is a wonderful and active place to work and maintains 24-hour security onsite. Associates will be trained in guest services, POS systems, and the Museum’s collections and exhibitions.

Daily duties include:

  • Greet and engage visitors, answering questions about the Museum, collections, history, and merchandise;
  • Process any onsite registrations or ticket sales for Museum events or programs;
  • Assist in increasing the Museums memberships;
  • Interact with guests at the front desk or in the store and finalize their sales;
  • Operate cash register and maintain POS system;
  • Answer phone inquiries;
  • Receive incoming merchandise assist with annual and quarterly inventory;
  • Assist in maintaining a professional and inviting workspace;
  • Maintain operation of store and desk including opening and closing practices;
  • Provide outstanding customer service;
  • Be able to handle problems and emergencies in a professional manner.

We are seeking enthusiastic candidates with knowledge and/or experience in:

  • Retail sales;
  • Technology savvy;
  • General office skills;
  • Strong attention to detail, and
  • A passion for the arts and/or theater experience preferred.
