The 3rd Annual Dirty Popcorn Black Film Festival is presented by Jet Phynx and hosted and sponsored by the Delaware Art Museum. The film festival will happen in August of 2023, The mission of the festival is to provide a platform and venue to discover and celebrate filmmakers of color from Delaware and the surrounding region while also providing a means of preserving local black filmmakers.
The festival is accepting submissions in three categories:
The event will occur on August 10, 2023. The films will be showcased at the Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington, DE.
If you are a BIPOC filmmaker from DE, MD, NJ, PA or NY, then we want your film. There is no fee to submit.
The festival is accepting short film submissions (under 30 minutes) from Black or indigenous people of color through March 1st – July 12th in three categories: Narrative (drama/fiction), Documentary, Experimental (music videos, animation, etc). Selected films will be shown with a red-carpet awards ceremony set for the final Saturday, August 10, 2024.
