On this urban walk, follow the trail of history and The Brandywine Tradition in art. Starting at Delaware Art Museum, 2301 Kentmere Parkway, we will follow Kentmere Parkway to the Brandywine River and then visit the historic studios of Frank Schoonover and Howard Pyle; the Pyle studio today is home to the notable all-women’s Studio Group. We’ll learn of the Delaware philanthropists who were both patrons of local artists and created the Wilmington parks system. At the end of the hike, enjoy wine and cheese on the leader’s porch before returning to the Art Museum by van. This walk is approximately 2.5 miles.
Bring a mask for indoor sections, good walking shoes, and dress for the weather. Delaware Art Museum admission included. (Museum closes at 4 pm, so if you want to visit the museum, plan to do it before the walk. Admission is good only on the day of the walk.)
