The 2nd Annual Dirty Popcorn Black Film Festival is presented by Jet Phynx and hosted and sponsored by the Delaware Art Museum. The flim festival will happen in August of 2023, The mission of the festival is to provide a platform and venue to discover and celebrate filmmakers of color from Delaware and the surrounding region while also providing a means of preserving local black filmmakers.
The festival is accepting submissions in three categories:
The event will occur in August 12, 2023. The films will be showcased at the Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington, DE.
If you are a BIPOC filmmaker from DE, MD, NJ, PA or NY, then we want your film. There is no fee to submit.
The festival is accepting short film submissions (under 30 minutes) from Black or indigenous people of color through June 1 – June 30 in three categories: Narrative (drama/fiction), Documentary, Experimental (music videos, animation, etc). Selected films will be shown on each Sunday with a red-carpet awards ceremony set for the final Sunday, August 12.
Jet Phynx 2nd Annual Dirty Popcorn Black Film Festival is sponsored by the Center for Interventional Pain & Spine and Prime Beverage Group. This organization is supported, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
