Join Curator of American Art Dr. Heather Campbell Coyle and Lynn Herrick Sharp Curatorial Fellow Anne Cross for this unique art history course covering American illustration. The four-week series will build on the museum’s founding Pyle collection and feature the expert voices of Courtney Waring (Director of Education, The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art), Giuseppe Castellano (Founder and Director, The Illustration Department and podcast), and Amanda Burdan (Senior Curator, Brandywine Museum of Art). The speakers will focus on strengths of the Museum, including Howard Pyle and his students, and developing areas of the collection, like Jazz Age illustration, and the final talk will present a deep dive into the history of picture books. The full course includes four virtual lectures as well as four in-person exclusive gallery tours, led by our experts, through the illustration collections of the Delaware Art Museum and the Brandywine Museum of Art. An option to participate in only the four virtual lectures is also available.
