This course will focus on approaches and techniques for representational oil painting. Direct observation along with working from a photographic reference will be the basis for combining light, shadow, and color to create realistic paintings.       
Supply List
  • 12”x16” disposable palette   
  • Palette knife   
  • 11”x14” and 16”x20 pre stretched canvas or canvas boards   
  • Glass jar with lid    
  • Odorless Mineral Spirits    
  • Paper Towels   
  • Brushes:  
    • #1 filbert bristle brush   
    • #2 Filbert bristle brush   
    • #4 Filbert bristle brush   
    • #6 filbert bristle brush   
    • #8 filbert bristle brush   
  • Or these brushes (for fine details):   
    • #1 round white nylon    
    • #00 round white nylon   
    • #2,4,6,8 bright white nylon   
    • #2 fan brush, white nylon or sable   
  • Paints (Windsor & Newton WINTON suggested):   
    • 200ml Titanium white   
    • 37ml Burnt Sienna   
    • 37ml Burnt Umber   
    • 37ml Cadmium Red Hue   
    • 37ml Cadmium Yellow Pale or Lemon hue   
    • 37ml Cerulean Blue Hue   
    • 37ml French Ultramarine Blue   
    • 37ml Viridian Green Hue   
    • 37ml Alizarin Crimson
