Artisan Store Designer/Merchandiser
The Delaware Art Museum will re-imagine our store in 2025, enhancing the guest experience and ensuring alignment with our institutional image. We want to work with a retail expert who can help us realize our goal. This individual will be on the ground floor of the space redesign and merchandising.
Starting in spring, we will have developed the layout and construction design for the about 750 square foot space. While construction is underway, discussions with store staff, curators, program managers, vendors, and shoppers will help inform the design of visually compelling merchandise displays and vendor sourcing. We are looking for merchandise and consignment goods that offer artisan wares and gifts that complement DelArt’s exhibitions, programs, and events and stay within the Museum’s annual purchasing budget of $50-60K. When the project is complete, our store staff will have gained increased skills in retail purchasing and merchandising, enhanced budgeting, and inventory management in line with our growing destination gift and museum store audience.
We anticipate this exciting project to begin in spring 2025 with completion by mid-fall. We may also develop a continuing relationship relative to the merchandising aspect by monitoring customer preferences, sales trends, and inventory datal to inform purchasing decisions.
We need someone who has senior-level experience in retail purchasing and/or retail management. Strong communications and relevant technology skills are necessary.
If you are interested, please send a letter of interest and resume detailing your experiences in such redesigns and success measurements you have delivered. Information should be sent to Human Resources at hr@delart.org. We will begin discussions in early March. To learn more about the Delaware Art Museum, please visit our website at delart.org.
