Beginner Metalsmithing: Lidded box

In this class we will explore all of the metalsmithing basic skills such as planning your project, cutting, filing, hammering, texturing, soldering, cold connections, bezel setting, sawing and polishing through box making. If you are looking to try something new and have fun, this art class is for you. You will be guided through the process of creating a small metal object from start to finish with small demos, hands on practice, one on one instruction and lots of encouragement.
Supply List

Optional Supply list:

  • 2"-6" sheet of sterling silver 20 g (optional, we have base metal for you to use if you don’t want to buy silver
  • Bezel wire- 1/4" x 26g 5” (this is if you would like to set a stone on your box, if not there are other decorative options and you can forego this purchase)
  • 1' sterling silver round wire 20 gauge (optional, we have base metal wire in the studio)
  • 1' sterling silver round wire 18 gauge (optional, we have base metal wire in the studio)
  • sketch book and writing implement (optional, but helpful)
  • 6" metal ruler with MM (optional, but helpful)
  • A small cabochon stone between ¼”- ¾” long (I may have a friend come bring a selection for you to choose from)
